The 1884 Three Dollar Gold Piece
One of the things that’s fun about being a coin dealer is the variety of interesting numismatic items that come across your desk. I thought this was an interesting question and it got me to thinking about how the presence or absence of certain issues relate to rare gold coin collecting.
Not everyone is cut out to work on a complete set.

Three Dollar Gold Pieces From the 1880’s
As I have mentioned before, I have long been a fan of the low mintage Three Dollar gold pieces struck during the 1880’s. I like these coins because of their very low original mintage figures and their relative affordability. Even though the Three Dollar gold series is currently showing a slowdown after two or three years of intense activity, these particular issues are still in great demand.
