1852-O $2.50 NGC AU58 CAC
This completely original 1852-O quarter eagle is well-struck and satiny with attractive medium to deep orange-gold hues atop a green-gold undertone. There is just a slight amount of friction on the high spots of the obverse and a good deal of dirt can be seen in the crevasses of the reverse.

1846-O $5.00 NGC AU55 CAC
I can count on one hand the number of choice, original AU examples of this scarce date that I’ve seen in the last ten years. This piece is simply outstanding with deep, natural yellow-gold color and rich frosty luster on both sides. There is little actual wear visible; just some scuffs in the fields with the heaviest concentration of these in the upper left obverse.

1848-O $10.00 PCGS AU50
The 1848-O is tied with the 1850-O and the 1854-O Small Date as the eleventh rarest of twenty one No Motto eagles from this mint. I estimate that there are a few hundred examples known but from personal experience, I do not see this date very often in the AU50 to AU55 range; the “sweet spot” for many collectors of this series.

1853-O $10.00 PCGS AU55
While very common in lower grades, the 1853-O eagle is much scarcer than generally realized in AU55, rare in AU58 and exceedingly rare in Uncirculated with just three or four currently known. This example, which is fresh from Europe and has the three-pronged gasket within the slab that is indicative of a coin graded in PCGS’ Paris office, has lovely deep green-gold and rose-orange color with some dirt within the protected areas.

1892-O $5.00 NGC MS61 CAC
The 1892-O is an historic and numismatically significant issue. It is the first half eagle produced at the New Orleans mint since the denomination was discontinued at this facility in 1857. Only 10,000 were struck and most were either melted or shipped to Europe. Of the 100-125+ that exist, virtually all are in the AU50 to MS60 range and show extensively abraded surfaces.

1852-O $20.00 NGC AU58 CAC
I’m going to go out on a limb here and state that this coin is one of the single finest AU58 New Orleans double eagles of any date that I have ever seen. In arecent auction appearance it set an all-time record price for an AU58 1852-O (more on this below) and with good reason: it is absolutely stunning. In the very same sale in which this appeared, there was an 1852-O double eagle graded MS65 by NGC.
