The coin images on you website are the best in the gold coin industry. I have never received a coin from you that did not either look identical to the photo or even better. On some other leading auction sites I have been highly disappointed to receive a mediocre coin which had a beautiful image. Kudos to your marvelous photographer.

That was a really nice comment you made, D Yount, and I appreciate all the positive comments you made. And I promise that I didn't write the above comment(s) myself...

As a new collector on a modest budget, I've found this site invaluable as a source of information. Doug's articles as well as the comments by other collectors answer many of my questions about rare coin collecting. Even the coin descriptions themselves provide valuable information; much more than the typical description I see elsewhere such as " wow- what a great coin!". When I first came across the DWN site, I was very close to getting back out of the hobby as quickly as I got in. My experience up until then had been rocky to say the least and definitely not as fun as I remembered as a 10 year old in the 60's.
That said, I suspect like many other collectors I look forward to checking out the "inventory" section to see what Doug has found and hoping that perhaps there's something I'm looking for. In my opinion, Mary Winter does do a great job of imaging the coins and my own experience has been that the coins do look even better in hand.
As for pricing, right or wrong, I use the trust factor as I figure Doug hasn't been a dealer as long as he has and have the reputation he has in the hobby without selling coins at a price that is fair for the collector as well himself. I do have an idea what price range a coin might sell in but I'm happy to pay Doug's asking price. Uncleaned, unaltered and attractive coins seem to be rare themselves but population reports don't reflect that fact of course. For a new collector like myself, Doug has provided a huge safety net. Lastly, what I've found most remarkable is this. Doug has handled some of the rarest and most expensive coins that exist and has dealt with some of the most well known collectors of the past as well as prominent collectors of the present. Yet when I call DWN to buy a $2000 coin, it's Doug that answers the phone. That might be expected from a collector spending huge amounts of money but for me it's amazing.

Reading a pedigree is easy. Here's an example. Let's say a pedigree is listed as "Ex Superior 3/06: 1789 @$21,750. Graded MS62 by PCGS.."

This means that the coin last appeared as Lot 1789 in the Superior March 2006 auction where it realized $21,750 including the buyer's premium. In the sale it was graded as MS62 by PCGS.

"I think I’ve created a website that is easy to use and that operates in the fashion that I would like the “ideal site” to if I were a collector."

I would tend to agree.

I think have the opportunity for comments, discussion, and questions along with blogs and articles make your site worth visiting daily.
